Advice for painting historic Philadelphia row home exterior : HomeImprovement

Hi all,

I have a historic Philadelphia row home which is an investment property. It is brick and stucco. I like the look of the old brick, but the stained and old stucco is very ugly, although in good condition. This spring I would like to beutify the exterior of the home. It’s a DIY project. I was thinking of just painting the stucco, doors/frames and leaving the brick and window trim as is. The window trim is marble. My concern is that the newly painted stucco would clash with the old brick and not look good. Another option would be to paint the stucco and the brick, which would probably look good, but I would lose the character of the brick.

Does anyone have advice on how to bring this exterior back to it’s glory days? Do you think newly painted stucco would clash with the old brick?
