There is a hole next to my chimney in the attic. I am currently ripping out all the insulation in my attic, air sealing, and installing new insulation. I want to stick my vacuum hose down there to get anything that has already fallen, then cut a piece of plywood to cover it, screw it into the studs, then Great Stuff the cracks before blowing in insulation. Is there any reason I might not want to do that? Thanks in advance!
I’m aware of the requirement and common sense that you should have anything flammable a certain distance from the chimney, there is definitely a good distance between where I would put the board and where the actual chimney is.
