concrete block piers are leaning : HomeImprovement

Our deck is 23 years old & in need of renovation. The pressure treated frame appears solid, but the decking & rails have got to go.

But I’m concerned about the concrete block piers. Some are leaning. The most extreme one is leaning about 1.25″ over 24″ vertical height. Each pier is resting on a concrete pad that was poured in place after a hole was dug. I don’t know how deep, but the pad extends about 6″ beyond the blocks in all 4 directions. We live near the coast & the soil is usually pretty damp.

Can this tilt be corrected or do I have to tear it down & start over? What’s to prevent it from leaning in the future?
