I have an older smoke detector chirping. I haven’t changed the batteries in this one since moving in a few years ago, so I’m assuming this is a hard-wired detector with battery backup. I haven’t been able to get the cover off to replace that.
It looks like there’s a small tab I can push in with a flathead screwdriver, but that doesn’t seem to do anything. It also looks like previous owners painted over, which has probably binded it. I took a knife and tried to chop that up and separate the base and the unit, but no luck. Any ideas?
