Flooring options for 110+ y.o. home : HomeImprovement

http://imgur.com/gallery/2DnrJZC

We just bought our first home that is over 100 years old. Very well kept overall and the upstairs area was all carpeted. Peeled up the carpets to find the above images and we are exploring options with a lot of mixed responses. I believe it’s pine boards but perhaps I’m missing something..

I’m torn on whether or not these are the original floors for the following reasons.

  1. stain speckles on the floors that match original woodwork.

  2. the pristine condition. Maybe they’ve just been covered this whole time?

  3. the gap between floor and trim.

We’re brainstorming some options for simply carpeting again (it’s cold around here), staining them, or maybe painting them.

Thanks for reading along!
