Grout coming out where wall meets tub on new bathroom : HomeImprovement

Hello, we recently had contractors gut our bathroom down to the studs and redo everything fresh. Project has been done for a week or so and I’ve begun to notice grout crumbling from the seam where it meets the tub. The tub is Koehler and not a cast iron one so it does have more flex which could be the reason for the gaps starting to show.

Should I chip it all out and re-grout? There is no caulk installed because the contractors said it was grouted and there is no need for caulk (I’m not sure I agree but that’s what I was told). Also (gulp) in doing some research, the walls of the shower are purple board and not cement board. Not sure if this is a factor or not but thought it worth mentioning.
