We have a backsplash made from bottle caps. It was impossible to wipe the surface completely clean during grouting. We thought we would be able to remove the haze and excess after the grout lines set up, but that was a pipe dream.
I have tried warm water, straight white vinegar, and a terry towel. I was able to clean about 1/2 sq.ft. in an hour this way. Hoping to find something quicker that will not damage the bottlecap surface.
Green scrubbies, melamine sponges, and acetone all remove paint and/or scratch the caps, so they’re out.
We have some Miracle Heavy Duty Cleaner (acid substitute) that I’ll try next, and it doesn’t damage test caps. Not sure if it actually works or not.
Any other recommendations?
