Hi, I was hoping I could get some additional advice here after doing some research.
I have an old Victorian built ~1890 where the floorboards on the second floor have started to rise (bow). I’ve tried re-securing them by hammering the ends down, but to no avail.
Do I buy finishing nails (or bigger nails?) and nail them back down?
The above images are a good example of what’s happening to the hardwood floor. What’s the proper method for fixing/improving this?
In a high traffic area of the kitchen on the 1st floor, I’ve noticed the floor has become incredibly “soft”, that is, there seems to be alot more “give” when stepping in that area than I can recall. Could this be a joist issue? How does one even begin to figure out how to fix this?
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!
