I’ve recently moved back home to care for my mom who has dementia. I’m in the process of upgrading some rooms in the house for her to make her life easier, & would appreciate some advice about the fireplace
She upgraded the fire back in 2017, but didn’t upgrade the fireplace. As you can see from the photo, it’s stone/brick with some big marble tiles on the bottom & looks very tired, dated & could do with some modernising
What would you do? Knocking it out is not an option, but cosmetically, what can be done? I’m thinking of painting the bricks white & maybe putting tiles on the marble? Could stick on tiles work? Or maybe a hearth pad? Or just paint the bricks & clean up the marble? I don’t know. I’m terrible at home improvements
Any help would be greatly appreciated
