Hole in plaster ceiling – cover it or repair? : HomeImprovement

We had some electrical work done last week to remove the remaining knob and tube in our 1916 house. Unfortunately it led to a significant chunk of plaster falling from the ceiling when the electrician put the light back up.

What would you do in this situation? Hire out plaster repair? Or should we think about getting a different light fixture that could cover the hole? It’s about 10 inches at the widest point. Note that it’s a dining room light and a wide flush mount fixture might look odd above a table (or maybe not…?)
