Keep Wood trim after refinishing hardwoods? : HomeImprovement

We are moving in to a new house in a few weeks. We are planning to refinish the hardwood floors as there are some worn areas. The house was built in the 1950s, and we aren’t sure when they were last done.

When we redo the floors, the trim potentially won’t match them anymore. Any advice on what we should plan on for next steps? The trim isn’t in the best shape (dents, paint splatters, gapping from the walls). But this sub seems to favor keeping original wood trim.

While we’re here, we’ve received refinishing quotes from $1800-3200. Most have said sanding and 3 coats of oil base finish. They haven’t elaborated more than that. Reviews are all good and photos as well. Should we spend time digging further? Or is it pretty straightforward work.

Thank you!
