Hi, I want to put up some shelving for books in an alcove (in my house in Sussex, England) – you can see pictures of the space [here] (https://imgur.com/a/45sx4oI).
The alcove is about 360mm deep and 2800mm wide. I was originally looking at doing doing hidden wooden supports against the left, right and back, but I fear the length would make the wood sag.
I can find solid oak at that length, but it’s very expensive. Plywood and MDF, which is obviously cheaper, doesn’t appear to available at that length. So I’d need two planks of wood per shelf.
So, suggestions welcome.
