Single lever faucet lever broke off, can I replace just the lever? : HomeImprovement

so the lever of my bath/shower faucet just broke off (it had been going heavy for a while) images here.

After googling around a bit, it seems like the cartridge might have given out (the blue and gray thing?) due to age. Since I’m on the hook for small repairs like this, I’d like to try and fix this myself.

  1. Is there a recommended guide for this type of repair? From what I found online, it seems like I need to talk to my concierge to turn the water off, and then take the faucet apart?

  2. Is there a reason to spend money on a “good” faucet, i.e. this over this as a student?

  3. Should I try to replace just the cartridge or should I just replace the whole faucet?

Thanks in advance!
